Has anyone here been to the House of Blues in Chicago before? I actually have never been to any of the HoB venues before, so I hve no clue what to expect. I heard something about if you eat before, you get priority entry. True? Anyone have any input? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Punki, what are you doing in the area? I was just there two weeks ago.

Yes, make reservations and eat dinner there, and they open the doors to you before everybody else. But if you wish to save the money on the overly expensive food, just get there early enough to get in. Most of the good tables are reserved. If you are not going there to get a table, then don't worry about getting in before everybody else. I went to the Brian Setzer Orchestra, got there at a normal time, and was still right up front for Setzer, and the show was sold out.

I'll be there for MSG/Lynch/EZN/Adler's Appetite on Saturday (really just for EZN and Adler).

We might end up skipping the dinner thing if we think we can still get up front anyway. We need gas money (and drinks!) worse than we need pricey food. But I heard their food is delish. However, from what I've been told, you have to buy an entree for the priority entry thing to work, and I'm on a diet and I doubt that salad counts as an entree.

Well, I would bet that MSG won't be nearly as packed as the Setzer Christmas show was, as Setzer always draws HUGE, and it was sold out. But I have been to numerous shows at HOB, and they have all been sold out, but never too crowded. I think they sell them out in such a way that it won't be too crowded. In other words, I think that they keep the sell out under what is actually the max-capacity, unlike many other clubs. I hate crowds, and the HOB shows I have been to have always been acceptable to me.

As for the food, I would bet that they, like many places nowdays, have menus to cater to those trying to lose weight. I was dieting for a good while there, and never had a problem finding a nice low-fat meal at most places, and HOB is trendy enough that I am sure that they have something. Hell, most of those BIG salads cost as much as a filet anyway, so I am sure they would understand and go along with it. If you chose.

The area that HOB is in though is pretty slim on cheap-eats. Just down the road is Ed Debevics, which is burgers, but again, it is a trendy place and you will pay for it.

There is a McDonalds right by there, but it is the Rock And Roll McDonalds, so it is always packed.
